We've been playing little games with Delaney, like, "Delaney, where's Daddy?" When we ask her, she looks around until she lays her eyes on R. and then smiles. Other popular versions of this game are, "Delaney, where's Mathilde ?" and "Delaney, where's Mama?" The last few days have seen the invention of, "Delaney, where's the light?" and, when asked this particular question, Delaney looks around for a light source and identifies it for us by pointing. R. and I take total delight in this. We exchange knowing glances that say, "Ah, ha! Our child is brilliant! She knows from whence the light comes."
Today, while Delaney and I perused our local gourmet grocery store, I noticed her looking at the ceiling while pointing upward with both hands. I turned my eyes skyward and saw the bright lights above the floral department. She was showing me where the lights were. She was answering our favorite question before it was even posed to her. Now, I ask you, what could be more genius than that?
Totally, totally awesome. But, with parents like you two, how could she not be brilliant?

have you tried using baby signs with her? She's about the right age where she'd learn well... I just found your blog so you might be and I didn't see it, but all you have to do is google baby sign and there are lots of sites out there... the ones that use ASL are the best, so baby is learning a real second language.
